Dear choir members, students and singers,
It is with great excitement and elation that we are announcing the start of our new organization: Chorus Studio! This launch has been more than a year in the making, and we’re so grateful to finally be able to share it with you!
When Rebecca first started YVR POP CHOIR, she envisioned a space where singers from all backgrounds could feel free to sing and express themselves in a supportive, encouraging environment. As we watched our little community grow from 50 choir members to 140 members strong (pre-COVID19), and the creation of B-ROLL, Singers Circle, and Casual Pop Choir, all in the span of three years, we knew that there was something truly special here.
We see the spirit-nurturing joy that comes from being a part of a community that openly supports, uplifts, encourages and embraces one another, whatever their musical journey. We want to amplify this wonderful connection by building in more aspects of music education that would help our members on their journey to becoming well-rounded musicians. From private voice, piano, and guitar lessons, to workshops, masterclasses, and the choirs, we aim to create a space of learning, creativity, and exploration for the community.
It is with great pleasure that we are introducing the four team members of Chorus Studio, all of whom are already very familiar faces to the choir community:
REBECCA LAM
Co-Founder, Creative Director, Voice and Performance Teacher
A professional vocalist and international vocal coach of 14+ years, Rebecca is a magnetic force of nature who radiates pure joy and passion for music and teaching. Equipped with a superhuman ability to empathize with her students and coax out their authentic voices, Rebecca’s unparalleled teaching skills makes her one of the most sought-after vocal coaches in the industry.
RACHEL WONG
Co-Founder, Director of Operations, Voice and Piano Teacher
A human calculator and spreadsheet enthusiast, Rachel brings the same level of preparation and detail-oriented focus to lessons that she does to facts and figures! With over 10 years of piano teaching experience and vocal studies under her belt, Rachel’s steady, gentle and patient guidance will encourage you to enjoy the process of learning.
JARED SUITOR
YVR POP CHOIR and B-ROLL Band Leader, Voice, Guitar and Performance teacher
A human golden retriever with an infectious love for music, Jared is also a masterful guitarist and singer who has been immersed in the vibrant music scene of Nashville, Tennessee as a student, song-writer, and performer. Jared’s high-octane energy and incredible musical knowledge will have you leaving your lessons with a smile on your face.
RICHARD PINTO
Sing-Along Sessions Leader, Voice and Guitar teacher
Our go-to guy for pop music trivia – if a song came out in the 90s or 2000s – Richard probably knows it! Richard is an incredibly talented singer and guitarist, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Victoria! A hard-working musician with a natural affinity for style and groove, Richard’s kind, easygoing and relatable manner of teaching will put you at ease.
As Chorus Studio started to take shape, we would visualize what our dream space would look like. Little did we know that in just a few months, the pandemic would drastically change what singing and music would look like for everyone. However, we are not giving up on this dream!
We are launching Chorus Studio virtually with the goal of eventually having our very own brick-and-mortar space. When it is possible to gather and sing in-person again, we will house private lessons, workshops, and the choirs – all under one roof.
As we work toward this goal, we would greatly appreciate your support through booking lessons, enrolling in workshops and the choirs, and participating in our community events! Book a lesson, join our virtual choir or drop in to an Open Mic Night! Every registration will help us to realize our vision of a welcoming, brick-and-mortar, community space for singers!
